Verum Signal is built to collect as little about you as it can. It doesn't sell personal information or use it for advertising.
When you view a page, we record the page, the page that linked you there, your browser type, screen width, time on page, and a random ID that lasts only while your browser tab is open. Your network (IP) address is stored only in a one-way scrambled form. We keep these records for 90 days. After that, only daily totals remain: how many views each page had and which sites sent visitors, with nothing that identifies you.
To protect the site from abuse, your network address is held for about 10 minutes.
If you create an account, we keep your email address. Sign-in links expire, and a cookie keeps you signed in. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number; we keep only the customer and subscription references Stripe gives us.
The extension sends only the website's name (for example, example.com) to look up that outlet's profile. These lookups aren't stored. If you click "Analyze this article", the extension sends that article's address so we can analyze it.
When you ask for a report on an article, we fetch and analyze it. Reports are public and never show who requested them. If you're signed in, the request counts toward your plan's usage.
API keys are linked to the email address that requested them. Each API call is logged (endpoint, result, time, and your network address in scrambled form) for 90 days. Monthly call counts are kept for billing.
If you turn on notifications, we store a device identifier, a notification token and your device model, and use them only to send the notifications you chose.
We keep your email address and what you send us. Dispute submissions and contact details are never published, and a dispute is deleted two years after it has been reviewed.
If you sign up for This week’s signals, our weekly email, we keep your email address, the page you signed up from, the site or campaign link that brought you to us (for example, a post on X), when you signed up and confirmed, and your network address in scrambled form to stop abuse of the sign-up form. Nothing is sent until you confirm with the link we email you. That link expires after 7 days, and a sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted 30 days after it was made.
We use your address only to send the weekly email. Every issue has an unsubscribe link: when you use it, sending stops at once and we delete your address within 30 days.
We use Railway (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Expo (app notifications), Anthropic (AI models that analyze article and debate text), Jina (fetching article pages), Deepgram and Rev AI (transcribing debate audio) and an email delivery service (sign-in links, account notices and the weekly email).
One cookie, only if you sign in. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
