Verum Signal is operated by Verum Signal LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of verumsignal.com, our mobile application, our browser extension, and our public API (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not wish to be bound by them, you may not use the Service. When you create an account or request an API key, you will be asked to confirm that you accept these Terms, and we keep a record of the version you accepted and when. Submitting an article for analysis is governed by Section 8.

Verum Signal analyses factual claims made in news articles, in live political debates and at major press conferences, and publishes the results. Our analysis is produced by automated systems, including artificial-intelligence models, applying a methodology we publish in full at verumsignal.com/methodology. Every version of that methodology is archived and dated.
Our scores and verdicts are our assessments, formed by applying our published methodology to the evidence our systems locate. They are opinions, not statements of objective fact about any person or organisation beyond the evidence we disclose. Each verdict is shown with the sources our analysis cited for it. Each outlet score is an arithmetic function of individual claim verdicts, computed under a published formula.
Our assessments can be wrong, and they change. Verdicts are revised when new evidence emerges, when a dispute is upheld, or when a new methodology version is released. Nothing on the Service is a final determination about anyone.
On debate and press-conference pages, speaker names are identified automatically, in real time, and ratings published while the event is under way are provisional. We check every attribution after the event and correct it in place, with a dated note, where it was wrong. On press-conference pages we name only the principals, the officials holding the press conference whose voices we identify; other speakers are not named, and questions from reporters are shown without names and are not rated. A statement quoted from someone else's reporting may be shown without a rating.
Verum Signal does not rate journalists, editors, or owners. It does not produce an aggregate rating for any individual person. It does not rate organisations on ideological grounds.
You must be at least 13 to use the Service, and at least 18 to buy a paid plan.
Accounts are authenticated by email sign-in link. You are responsible for your account and for anything done through it. Tell us promptly at security@verumsignal.com if you think someone else has access.
Free access includes reading published reports, outlet scores, the leaderboard, the Live Feed, debate and press-conference pages, and the browser extension.
Some free features are rate-limited. Free use is limited to a set number of on-demand article analyses each month, counted per account or, for visitors who are not signed in, per network, and each free analysis covers a limited number of claims. We publish current limits on the pricing page and may change them.
Paid plans are not yet offered. Before any charge is made, this section will be updated to state prices, billing periods, automatic renewal, cancellation and refund terms, and account holders will be notified under Section 13.
Licence. Subject to these Terms and your plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access the API and to use the data it returns, including publishing analyses, articles, visualisations and other outputs derived from it, with attribution to Verum Signal.
What the licence does not allow, on any plan below Enterprise:
Keys and limits. Keys are issued to a named holder and must not be shared. Rate and volume limits attach to your plan; we publish current limits on the API page and may enforce them by throttling or suspension. We may revoke a key that is shared, abused, or used in breach of these Terms.
Attribution. Published outputs derived from the API must identify Verum Signal as the source, state the methodology version the data carries, and present scores and verdicts as Verum Signal's assessments rather than as statements of fact. If we notify you that a claim, verdict or score has been corrected or withdrawn, you will update or remove it from anything you publish within 24 hours.
Availability. The API is in limited release. We do not guarantee uptime, latency or backward compatibility.
MCP server. Our Model Context Protocol server is self-hosted: you run it with your own key. We do not host or proxy it, and it is provided as-is under its repository licence.
In no event are you permitted to:
If we reasonably believe that you have violated any of the above, we may suspend your account, in which case you will not be entitled to a refund of any sort.
When you submit an article's address for analysis, you confirm that you may lawfully access that page and that submitting it does not breach any agreement you have with its publisher. We retrieve the page as it is served to the public, we do not sign in to any site or use your credentials, and we quote only the specific claims we assess, with a link to the source. We may decline to analyse any page, and we may remove an analysis at a publisher's request.
We take accuracy seriously. Our systems and their outputs are reviewed and improved continuously, and errors can still occur. If you believe a verdict, an attribution, or the wording of an extracted claim is wrong, our corrections and disputes policy explains who may file, how, and what happens next. That policy describes how we work; it is not part of these Terms.
Verum Signal owns all right, title and interest in the Service and any of our work product, including the Verum Signal name and logo, the software behind the Service (the website, mobile application, browser extension, API and MCP server), our methodology, our scores, verdicts and analyses, and the compiled database of claims and ratings.
We analyse third-party articles and public debate and press-conference broadcasts. We do not claim ownership of the underlying material and we do not republish it: we quote the specific claim being assessed (and, on press-conference pages, the question a reporter asked) and link to the source. The words we quote remain the speaker's or the publisher's. If you hold rights in material you believe we have used improperly, write to legal@verumsignal.com.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that our assessments are accurate, complete, or current, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. You should not rely on a score or verdict as the sole basis for any decision. Scores are computed on the articles that reached our analysis under the sampling rules described in the methodology, not on everything an outlet has published.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verum Signal LLC and its member, officers and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, and in those the exclusions apply only so far as permitted.
You will indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, any data or intellectual property that you make available to the Service, or your publication of outputs derived from our data in a way these Terms do not permit.
We may change the Service, and we may change these Terms. We may correct, withdraw or unpublish any score, verdict, claim or other content at any time, and doing so gives rise to no liability to you. Material changes to these Terms will be posted here with a new version number and effective date, and prior versions will be available on request; account holders will be emailed at least 14 days before a material change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date will be deemed acceptance. If you do not accept any change to these Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel any paid plan.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, for non-payment, or where we are required to. Sections 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16 survive termination. You acknowledge that a breach of Section 6 would cause harm that damages alone would not remedy, and that we may seek injunctive relief for it.
These Terms are governed by the law of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state courts located in Denver, Colorado have exclusive jurisdiction, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction.

If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of the business. These Terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, except that a written agreement signed by both of us takes precedence over these Terms where the two conflict. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events outside its reasonable control. These Terms are solely for your benefit as a user of the Service and do not create any rights or remedies for any third party.
