Every verdict follows our published methodology — how we check claims.

There is no filter by person. A page narrowed to one individual is a claim history about that individual, and we do not build those.

Why this verdict View evidenceHide evidence
Why we checked itThis is a specific dollar figure ($30 billion) tied to a specific federal action — withholding disaster relief funds — and a specific stated condition (voting restrictions). Both the amount and the conditionality are verifiable.
What we foundTrump did publicly condition wildfire aid on voter ID (a voting-related demand), but the $30 billion figure is imprecise — California's outstanding request was closer to $34–40 billion — and voting was only one of multiple stated conditions Trump attached, with water policy being an equally prominent demand.
